A Link to the Past Design Sketches

Zelda
Princess Zelda, garbed in magnificent robes. This is an early design of her outfit. The sci-fi costume Zelda also comes to mind, but she doesn’t appear in the game, of course.

…what the heck is that last sketch of Zelda supposed to be?? So very confused…

The legend of Zelda was supposed to occur in two times, the past and a distant future; even the triforce was going to be a microchip. That being said, an early sketch of Zelda wearing futureish clothes is not so weird.

Do you have a source for these claims?

On the origin of the name “Link”, Miyamoto had this to say: “Link’s name comes from the fact that originally, the fragments of the Triforce were supposed to be electronic chips. The game was to be set in both the past and the future and as the main character would travel between both and be the link between them, they called him Link.”[4]

Hence why some speculate the existence of early sci fi concept art in ALTTP indicates it may have once used the same setting, maybe what the Light World/Dark World gameplay mechanic was originally going to be.
